Utah State Senator Luz Escamilla

Utah State Senator Luz Escamilla is one of the two remaining candidates in the Salt Lake mayoral race – which is making history as, for the first time in the city’s history, two women face off for the job – the other candidate being city councilwoman Erin Mendenhall. Senator Escamilla is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in business marketing and a Master of Public Administration. The Senator is a Democrat and represents District 1 which takes in much of the west side of Salt Lake City and Capitol Hill. She is the Minority Whip in leadership of the Senate Democrats. In a very tough and hard fought campaign Michael Brownstein was able to spend a short amount of time with Senator Escamilla.
